UPDATED: John Metcalfe, the Isle of Wight Council’s current Deputy Managing Director, looks set to become the new Chief Executive.
The Isle of Wight Council Employment Sub-Committee decided last week to recommend John Metcalfe for the £125,000-a-year post after a total of 26 applications were received and reviewed.
The recommendation will now go in front of the Full Council tomorrow (Wednesday) who will formalise the decision, but could still decide the matter to be reconsidered.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Dave Burbage resigned back in September and is due to leave next month.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY: John Metcalfe has tonight been appointed as the Council’s new CEO.
Members at the Full Council meeting have voted in favour of appointing Mr Metcalfe by 34-to-1, with 4 abstentions. Cllr Kendell voted against.
