30-year-old Jamie Simpson has been charged with GBH with intent and possession of an offensive weapon following a serious assault on a local woman earlier this month.
The incident, in which 21-year-old Yavana Dix was left with significant injuries to her head, occurred in the Lake area on 20th December.
An appeal for information relating to the whereabouts of Jamie Simpson was issued by Police earlier this week and overnight he was subsequently located and arrested.
Now, officers investigating the alleged assault have charged Simpson, of Culver Parade, Sandown, with 2 offences; causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
He remains in custody and will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Monday 30th December).

Hope they throw away the key this time! He deserves life for what he did to that poor girl, she’ll be scarred for life after this! Utter waste of oxygen, he doesn’t deserve any compassion by judges!!!
Perhaps we should send him on an anger management course and hope he changes, such is the attitude of the weak now. I would prefer he was used for body parts for decent people.

It’s sadistic scum like Jamie Simpson that need to be given a prolonged and uncomfortable prison sentence so that it is the deterrent it should be. Failing that, people like him should be eradicated from the island. As a country we are far too soft on criminals with the PC brigade, and every other social and minority group providing their opinion or intervention to put a spanner in the works and facilitate an easier or shorter sentence. I hope that the prison showers remind Simpson that if you go around shafting people that you’ll end up getting shafted. Sweet revenge!
Disgusting totally unacceptable behaviour what is happening to our society ? I worked very hard to bring my Children up to be respectful & decent honest happy people, but I suppose it’s too much effort these days like sitting down to a home cooked meal & all talking?
Very different bringing up the young ones today to what it was years ago – talking round the table is fine – but when they go outside there is drugs, drink, more drugs, nowhere for the teens to go – no youth clubs or anything like that , no floodlit pitches where they can let off a bit of steam and go and play a bit of footy, no clubs to learn boxing – in short – nothing- once they leave the talk round the table. Sadly we know what happens to bored youths they will get into trouble.

Hopefully people will rise above the media frenzy and give his poor parents a break.
