Cowes-based Simon Dew has smashed his personal best by landing the Isle of Wight’s largest resident fish, a mirror carp, weighing in at a staggering 52lb 6oz.
The monster of a fish was caught in Newport on Saturday night whilst Simon was guesting on a local syndicate water. He used S-Core pop ups over mixed sized freebies on his favourite withy pool rig.
This capture came as part of a 3 fish haul including Mirror Carps of 26lb 8oz and 33lb 10oz.
Simon, who is part of the UK Richworth Baits team, has been on lethal form consistently over the last few years but this is without doubt a highlight.
Speaking about his catch, Simon has said:
“I can’t believe I beat my French PB in the UK! It’s a dream come true and I actually had tears of happiness this morning”.
