The Isle of Wight Law Centre is to remain open as extra funding has been agreed by the Isle of Wight Council to enable the centre to continue providing vital support services.
At a time many Islanders have been struggling against the rising cost of living, the centre has been providing much-needed support and advice.
Based in Newport, the independent charity offers free legal advice to those with housing, welfare benefits, debt and employment problems.
In recent weeks the Council has worked closely with trustees to find a way forward after they announced the centre would close its doors for the final time at the end of August due to funding issues.
An agreement has now been reached which will see the Island’s law centre remain open.
The Council continues to progress the workaround re-commissioning of community housing support from 1st April 2023 in line with the law which governs its purchasing processes.
