Over the next few weeks, millions will see 2 of the Isle of Wight’s most spectacular locations – Military Road and Freshwater Bay – in a national TV commercial.
Both are the setting of a new Sky Mobile ad featuring Idris Elba. The October shoot was organised by the film office Filmwight which brought in help from Lobster Locations, Wightlink, Crown Park, Island Roads, Island People and The Albion Hotel.
Filmwight also organised temporary road closures, ferry travel, hotels and crew transport.
Location Manager Hugo Bingham said he was very impressed with the Island’s professionalism:
“Creatively it was perfect, logistically it was very good, the Island team have been fantastic in helping us get a permit to control the traffic. The film office has been incredibly helpful, everything was very easy, it’s one of the easiest places I’ve found to film.”
The nationwide advertisement promotes a January broadband sale, showing how easy it is to switch up to Sky.
Film Officer Dave Russell liaised with the crew, making it as easy as possible for everyone involved:
“With the production staying at The Albion Hotel in Freshwater, early starts weren’t needed as they were already at the location. Military Road was closed less than 15 minutes at a time, so it didn’t impact residents but ensured public safety, which is paramount.”
Great to see, lovely, well done Film Wight
