Isle of Wight households will soon receive the new 2026/27 Waste and Recycling Calendar – several weeks later than planned.
The calendar will be delivered to homes throughout June, despite the previous calendar only running up until the end of April.
Island Echo has asked the local authority as to the reason for the delay, but no response has been forthcoming.
There are no changes to collection days for the 2026/27 year, and whilst residents await the delivery of their calendar, they can check their waste collection days by entering their postcode at https://digitalservices.iow.gov.uk/wasteday.
Inside the calendar, residents will find:
- Key details about waste and recycling services in your area
- A full annual schedule of collection dates
- Instructions for booking free and paid services (such as re-use collections and Collection Plus)
- Details about household waste recycling centres
This year, the calendar has been redesigned in a smaller format, helping to significantly reduce production costs as well as the environmental impact associated with printing and distribution.
QR codes featured throughout the calendar provide quick and easy access to the Council website, where residents can find comprehensive information about waste and recycling services, collection dates and helpful guidance.
Natasha Dix, the Isle of Wight Council’s Service Director for Waste, Environment and Planning, said:
“Thank you to residents for continuing to support efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle waste on the Island. Everything we buy and throw away affects the environment, so small changes can make a real difference.
“We would also like to apologise for the unforeseen delay in distributing this year’s waste and recycling calendars and thank residents for their patience and understanding.”
If you haven’t received your calendar by 8th July, you should contact the Isle of Wight Council’s waste and recycling team to request a copy.

I really don’t know how we got through half the year without one.
Is from May
Are Royal Mail involved? Been waiting for a 48hr delivery for almost 8 days now.
Should be another 8 days.
Royal Snail are not what they use too be.
Lol
Just tried the link, blue screen over logo, spinning white circle, clearly not working, no change there.
However, if there’s no change why waste resources and money on something that’s likely going to be binned?
I wonder what the total cost is?
Island Echo – it would be interesting to know how much it costs to print and deliver the calendars? As ratepayers we should be told.
Why don’t the IW Council just print a small number to send to residents that ask for one if they don’t have online access?
