VIDEO: A series of videos commissioned by Wightlink Ferries to help attract visitors to the Isle of Wight has won international recognition.
The 90-second films were produced as part of the Wightlink multimedia Room to Breathe campaign managed by Fareham-based Precision Creative and Media. They were produced by Fareham and London-based Global Fire Creative who won a Gold Award at the Annual AVA Digital Awards. The AVA Digital Awards is an international competition that recognises excellence within the creative industries.
Filmed on the Island during 2014 and 2015 they portrayed the subjects of family visits, breaks for the over-55s and trips for adventure seekers while a compilation video drew on footage from the other three.
Mark Persad, Head of Marketing at Wightlink said:
“We were extremely impressed with the videos. They really captured the essence of the Isle of Wight as a place where you can escape to – where you can find room to breathe from the moment you step onto one of our ferries.
“But while we were delighted with the films, it is also really pleasing to see the quality of these productions also acknowledged by the AVA Digital Awards, an international competition that recognises excellence by creative professionals responsible for the planning, concept, direction, design and production of digital communication.
“From our point of view – and I am sure those who rely on the effective marketing of the Island would agree – it is excellent news that the material we are using to bring visitors to the Island has been recognised in this way.”
David Thornton from Visit Isle of Wight adds:
“These videos show the wide range of activities that visitors of all ages can enjoy on the Isle of Wight. Our Island is truly a destination for the whole family throughout the year.”
Executive Producer Elizabeth Halford of Global Fire Creative says:
“With high quality video production, travel companies can tell emotive stories about the locations they travel to.
“We travelled the Island extensively in the course of filming these pieces for Wightlink and were so pleasantly surprised at the beautiful places, people and things to be found there. There’s a real ambiance of kicked-back island life that makes it an excellent place for a short UK getaway.”
The films received a gold award in the travel section of the AVA Digital Awards and were among four scooped by Global Fire Creative.
