As a result of the ongoing and controversial works to the Ryde Interchange, Ryde Bus Station on the Esplanade will be temporarily moving from 12th September until Spring 2023.
Changes will see Southern Vectis’ Route 4 (Ryde-East Cowes), Route 9 (Ryde-Newport) and the Ryde area Route 37 move to the Rose Garden on the Esplanade
There will also be movements for the longer less frequent Routes 2, 3 and 8, Island Coaster and Downs Breezer. These will all move to the Esplanade on the opposite side of the road – with the new stops just 3-minutes away from the bus station.
Despite the temporary re-location, Ryde Travel Shop will be open as usual.
A spokesperson from Southern Vectis has said:
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We will continue to update customers with any changes.”
Never seen anyone working down there. Total mess right through the holiday season. Total disgrace.
i’m just pleased they choose the summer to do this , along with the wall repair in queens road, think of the amount of disruption that would have been caused in the busy winter months !!!!, so glad they are putting the hours in to get this completed
I’ve seen them working every day, and the cycle lane is starting to take shape, Anyone who thinks that bus station area was a good gateway to the Isle of Wight needs to change their glasses. They can hardly improve it while still using it as a bus station.
This will upset the freeloading ryde taxis who use the pay and display bays as their private taxi rank and never pay anything.
Oh good, so when the incoming bus that you are waiting for to use on its outward journey is delayed because, again, it is held up due to IR road obstructions, you can stand and get wet and cold because there is no shelter at the new location, not to mention the existing loo fiasco. Well done all concerned, IOW standards maintained.
