An inquest has this week ruled the death of a Bembridge grandmother-of-one as accidental following a cliff fall back in July of this year.
Maureen Bean, 79, fell around 18ft to her death at Portland Bill in Dorset on 9th July during an afternoon walk, when she lost her balance and her large bag – weighing around 10lbs – pulled her weight over the cliff edge.
Mrs Bean, who was visiting Dorset with her husband Derek, suffered a head injury in the fall when she landed on the rocks below. Despite the best efforts of first aiders, Mrs Bean was declared dead at the scene.
Senior Coroner Mr Sheriff Payne ruled Mrs Bean’s death as accidental at Bournemouth Coroner’s Court.
