A Cowes man who was found dead inside a car in December 2022 died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning from a running generator placed inside the vehicle, an inquest has concluded.
61-year-old David Anthony Bradley, a Heavy Goods Vehicle driver originally from Spilsby in Lincolnshire, was found in his silver Ford Fiesta at Marks Corner, near Newport, at just before 14:50 on 19th December 2022.
It was established that a generator, hired from HSS Hire in Newport just a short time beforehand, had been positioned on the rear seat of the vehicle and was running at the time. When emergency services arrived, the car was filled with fumes.
Senior Coroner Caroline Sumeray has concluded that Mr Bradley killed himself, with the medical cause of death recorded as carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Coroner formally opened the inquest on 22nd June 2023, with the conclusion delivered on 30th September 2025.
