A young girl has been transferred to an awaiting ambulance by members of HM Coastguard after injuring herself on a remote beach in the West Wight.
Shortly after 18:00 the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was alerted to a casualty near the water’s edge at Linstone Chine, Colwell Bay
An ambulance and Freshwater’s Co-Responder were swiftly mobilised to locate and treat the youngster.
However, due to the tricky terrain and distance from the nearest access, The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist in evacuating the casualty. They were only minutes away having just concluded a rescue at Freshwater Bay.
The girl – who was enjoying an evening at the beach with her family – has been transferred to an awaiting ambulance at Bramble Chine Holiday Park and is to be conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital.
It’s thought she has sustained a burn injury to her leg.
