Hovertravel have been forced to suspend their Ryde-Southsea service this afternoon (Monday) due to technical issues with both Flyer craft.
Both Island Flyer and Solent Flyer are on the pad at Ryde and unable to operate at what is a busy time of the year for the cross-Solent operator.
It’s understood that Island Flyer has been out of action for several days, with Solent Flyer keeping the service in operation across the weekend and throughout today. Now, Solent Flyer has developed an undisclosed technical issue resulting in no craft being available to continue the operation.
Hovertravel say an update is due at 13:00 but it is unclear if either of the hovers will be back in service at that point.
UPDATE @ 13:15 – It has been confirmed that a 1-boat service will resume at 13:15 from Ryde and 13:30 from Southsea.

Hovertravel are using boats now ?
What pier do they depart from ?
Utt oh!!! What’s going on, all these technical issues?? If it’s not Red Funnel, Wightlink, now it’s the hover. Probably overworked!!!!
It does seem rather odd that all our services are suffering issues BUT given it is now peak travel time I can’t believe this is planned. Just bad luck? I don’t know. All very odd!!
Where’s that very large hover when you need it?
Is there actually any management on these cross channel carriers??
3 out of 3 with cancellations and all 3 failing their obligations!!
Time for heads to roll…and bloody quickly too!!
