Hovertravel has been named as the Official Marketing Partner for the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Portsmouth, with an extra 42 crossings announced for the race weekend in July.
The America’s Cup action returns to Portsmouth in July and it’s again all about fast paced action on the water and thrills on land, as the teams reach speeds of 40mph just meters away from the spectators on shore. The best place to watch the action is from the Race Village in Southsea which offers family friendly features and exciting interactive content focused on the sport of sailing. Spectators will also be able to enjoy three aerobatic displays, including the Red Arrows, over the three day event.
Loretta Lale, Hovertravel’s Commercial and Marketing Manager said:
“There is such a long history of ocean racing on the Solent, where we operate. This great sailing spectacle will again showcase the Solent to a global audience and we are proud to be an official partner.
“We have created a package just for island residents and increased our service to help get Islanders across to this event.”
Hovertravel has combined travel and one day access to the Race Village into one package with a price of £28 per adult and £14 per child.
For the event, which runs from 21st-24th July 2016, Hovertravel is expanding its normal timetable by almost 30%, with an extra 42 crossings over the Saturday and Sunday, giving spectators the opportunity to experience both sides of the Solent and the chance to soak up the atmosphere in an unrivalled maritime location.
Dan Wilkinson, Communication Director for The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth said:
“We are delighted to be working with Hovertravel, their Southsea Terminal is located metres away from our Race Village, they are a fantastic supporter of the event and have been on-board from day one.
“The Isle of Wight audience is a key market for us with thousands of residents supporting and attending the event last year. The extra Hovertravel crossings will provide a convenient and essential gateway for our Isle of Wight ticket holders.”
