Gritters will be out and about across the Isle of Wight tonight (Friday) due to the forecast temperatures.
It will be the first time this season that the fleet has been deployed to grit the road network.
A weather advisory has been issued by IW Met Service with forecasters saying that temperatures will widely fall to freezing point or below leading to the risk of icy stretches on untreated roads and surfaces. Temperatures of 0c will develop across many parts with a few places seeing as low as -2c.
There is also the risk of black ice in more rural parts due to the freezing of field run-off water. The temperature will rise quickly after dawn as warmer air pushes in from the south.
The news comes just hours after the Isle of Wight Council announced it has made a U-Turn on cuts to the gritting routes. It was previously announced that 30 less roads would be treated this winter, but the Council now say that it will be service as normal.
