Shoppers in Ryde will be jumping for joy as the former Barrow Boys greengrocers is set to re-open next week as The Vegetable Cart.
The owners of Mellish’s across the road, Mr and Mrs Dhaliwal, have taken over the premesis on the High Street, as exclusively reported by Island Echo.
It follows a huge wave of disappointment at the start of the year when it was announced that Barrow Boys was shutting its doors for good.
Although the opening date has not yet been 100% confirmed, Island Echo is told that The Vegetable Cart will welcome its first customers before next weekend. The new signage went up earlier this week.
With many supermarkets now struggling to source decent fruit and vegetables the news will be much-welcomed by Ryde residents, especially as they will not have to walk past yet another long vacant shop on the High Street.
The Vegetable Cart will stock all the usual fruit and veg favourites, as well as local produce such as milk and cheese.

Fabulous News! The loss of Barrow Boys was a huge disappointment, I look forward to seeing their range.
Brilliant news ! Well done for saving healthy food options, jobs, and another empty shop space in Ryde. Can’t wait to sample the produce. Oh, and thank you !!
