A 25-year-old Oakfield man has been banned from the roads for 12 months – and has had his moped taken away by his grandad – after he admitted drug driving. Reece Harvey, 25, of Cross Street in Oakfield, pleaded guilty to drug driving when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (10th November). Lauren Stone, prosecuting, told the court that on 5th July 2023, officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary attended Harvey’s home address on unrelated matters. It was here that they saw Harvey arrive on his moped and park outside. When questioned by Police, Harvey admitted to having smoked cannabis the night before and that morning. A roadside drugs wipe was conducted which returned a positive reading for THC – as did blood tests carried out at Newport Police Station. Defending, Michael McGoldrick told the court that Harvey used cannabis to help him sleep and that the moped – which was a gift – had since been taken from him after his Grandfather asked for it back. Magistrates handed Harvey a 12-month driving ban and fined him £80. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £32 surcharge fee.

Well done grandad maybe give him a clip around the ear hole
Grandad is a good example of how things should be done.
Yes people, it really is OK to tell a child NO, even at 25.
How owns the bike? If it was the nipper, should have been the police and been crushed. If it was owned by grandfather, was it properly insured? Fraud if you make a false statement on the insurance application.
Sounds like you have been on the wacky backy yourself.
