A Ryde man has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm after an incident in the town centre last night (Monday).
Police were called just after 21:00 by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to a report of an assault on High Street, near the junction with Green Street.
Island Echo understands that an altercation had taken place, with a male in his 40s allegedly pushed, potentially from a bike.
It is thought that a serious injury was sustained as he fell, hitting his head.
The man in his 40s was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment to serious but not life-threatening or life-changing injuries.
A 30-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that he remains in custody.
