The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) has landed in a field in Porchfield this afternoon (Friday) in response to an ongoing medical emergency.
The Air Ambulance crew were called to the scene at around 15:30, following a request from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Having made their way South from their Thruxton base, the yellow and green liveried helicopter landed in a field of Little Whitehouse Road.
Flying doctors then made their way to the scene of the incident where they joined paramedics from St Mary’s Hospital, including a single ambulance crew and rapid response paramedic.
Local crews have been tending to the injured casualty for several hours.
Island Echo is told that the landing of the air ambulance is in relation to the earlier 2-car crash on Rolls Hill, however Police have said that only minor injuries were reported.
The exact reason for this Air Ambulance response remains unclear.
UPDATE – The air ambulance has now stood down from the incident and departed the scene, returning to base at Thruxton.
