Forecasters at IW Met Service have issued a yellow weather warning for fog across the Isle of Wight tonight (Monday) and into tomorrow morning.
Patchy fog is likely to develop as this evening progresses, which may well become widespread during the first half of the night. Some very dense patches are possible locally.
Overnight there will be a gradual increase in wind strength which should begin to lift the fog as we move towards dawn. The visibility is likely to remain rather poor, however, even as we move through Tuesday morning. There could be some hill fog from time to time.
Travel disruption is possible tonight, which does include cross-Solent travel – particularly Red Funnel.
The warning is valid from 16:00 today until 08:00 on Tuesday (New Year’s Eve).
