UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending an electricity substation in Cowes this morning (Monday).
2 appliances from Newport have been mobilised to York Street following reports of smoke issuing from a substation.
The alarm was raised by members of the public at around 11:05.
UPDATE @ 12:22 – Fire crews are now standing down from the incident and returning to station following the arrival of engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.
York Street has re-opened to all.
