Firefighters from Ventnor and Newport are assisting the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service with removing a patient from a property in Sandford this morning (Christmas Eve).
The main road between Godshill and Whiteley Bank has been closed to all traffic whilst the incident progresses.
1 appliance from Ventnor and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Newport are on scene, alongside ambulance crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. It’s understood firefighters are using the aerial appliance to remove a poorly patient from the upstairs of a residential property through a bedroom window.
Southern Vectis buses are delayed as a result of the road closure.
UPDATE @ 11:45 – The patient has been transferred into an ambulance and is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
The road has now re-opened to all traffic.
