The derelict Cygnet Hotel in Sandown has now been boarded up and secured following joint action involving Police, fire crews, planners, community safety officials and contractors.
Security fencing and boarding have been installed at the long-troubled Carter Street site in a bid to prevent further unauthorised access and reduce risks to public safety.
Authorities say proactive patrols will continue in the area throughout both the daytime and overnight hours to deter anyone attempting to gain entry or remove the newly installed boarding.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, the Isle of Wight Council Planning Department, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, the Community Safety Partnership, Ryde Demolition and the site owner have all worked together to secure the premises.
Residents are being urged to remain vigilant over the half-term period, with anyone witnessing suspicious activity at the site encouraged to contact Police via 101, or 999 in an emergency.
Officials have acknowledged the ongoing concerns surrounding the building and say work is continuing behind the scenes to develop a longer-term solution for the prominent seafront site.
Police have thanked residents for their patience and continued support while efforts to secure the hotel continue.
