Fire crews are in attendance at a domestic property in Shanklin after a fire broke out in a kitchen this evening (Tuesday).
The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised 2 appliances from Shanklin and Sandown to the detached property in Witbank Gardens after receiving a call at 21:15.
Island Echo has been told that the fire in the oven of the property was out on arrival, but crews wearing breathing apparatus have been committed to check for any further signs of fire.
It is not thought at this stage that anyone has incurred any injuries.
UPDATE @ 21:52 – Firefighters in breathing apparatus continue to search through the property to ensure there are no further seats of fire.
Phase 1 Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) is being used to rid the large property of smoke.
Firefighters will continue to ventilate the property, and it is understood that safe and well fire safety leaflets will be distributed to nearby neighbours.
