Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called out to a fire on a residential road in Newport in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
1 appliance was mobilised to the scene on Victoria Road shortly after midnight after it was reported that a picnic bench was on fire.
Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the picnic bench – which was engulfed in flames upon arrival.
The incident was dealt with in a quick fashion with the single crew standing down shortly after.

There are really some sick minded people on this Island who enjoy destruction rather than creating.
More scum spoiling it for others. They won’t be satisfied till everywhere looks like Ukraine..
OR THE MAINLAND !
Any vandal caught needs everything they own smashed to bits, including their jaw bone, and, eventually they will learn respect others property.
More scum dragged up by scum…
Who will be breeding more as soon as puberty starts, all kept from cradle to grave and each generation more vile than the last.
Yet mugs on here will still donate to the food bank and other charities which fund scum, despite us already keeping such via taxes.
WELL YOU KNOW WHERE THE FERRY IS………….!
BYE BYE .
Wow that’s a great attitude to have people don’t want this kind of behaviour surely you don’t.
Yes, you are right, soz.
I am just peed off at a certain person/ persons who always slate the IW on a constant and daily basis.
This is what happens when the ruling elite will rather spend money on their mates than on the people. If only I had a bag full of a million euro’s I could give Prince Charles, he maybe get us some more police we need. I’m sure he’ll not care about where i got it from.
