CAR FIRE BREAKS OUT NEAR FORT VICTORIA COUNTRY PARK

Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue LogoUPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending a car fire near to Fort Victoria Country Park in the West Wight this afternoon (Monday).

At just before 16:20 Island Echo readers reported hearing a loud bang and witnessed black smoke billowing into the skies.

1 appliance is in attendance and Police are said to have closed Westhill Lane for safety.

UPDATE @ 17:03 – Firefighters from Freshwater have extinguished a car fire at Fort Victoria.

A Ford Fiesta ST has been destroyed in the blaze, however no one is thought to have been injured.

A Ford Kuga has been slightly damaged by the flames, as well as a nearby sign and shrubbery.

The area is expected to fully reopen shortly.
