The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised a number of appliances to GKN’s Osborne site in East Cowes earlier this morning (Monday).
The alarm was raised about a possible fire at the manufacturing facility at around 05:30, resulting in 3 pumps, an aerial ladder platform and the Incident Command Unit being sent to the scene.
Thankfully, crews didn’t find themselves tackling a major blaze – a reported fire in the air conditioning unit turned out to be a false alarm.
Staff were allowed to return to the site just 15 minutes later and the fire service stood down by 06:30.
