A Newport man who was found in possession of cannabis for the 2nd time this year has been fined £120.
Lennon Lowman, 19, of Staplers Road in Newport, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (17th September) charged with possession of a controlled drug of Class A.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that on 17th August, Police were called by a member of Lowman’s family who believed that there were drugs in his bedroom.
Police searched the teenager’s room finding some vacuum-packed cannabis packets, scales, cash and numerous phones.
In Police interview, Lowman admitted that the cannabis was his and that he smoked around 15 joints a day.
Defending, Michael McGoldrick told the court that Lowman previously used to smoke cannabis to combat his ADHD but that he stopped smoking the recreational drug after his arrest, saying it was causing him ‘heart attacks’.
Lowman was last in court back in January for another offence of possession of cannabis.
Magistrates handed the 19-year-old a £120 fine and ordered he pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge fee.
