A young moped rider has been conveyed to hospital following a crash on a residential close in Sandown tonight (Friday).
Emergency services were called to Jeals Lane when a woman came off her motorcycle shortly before 19:55.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service dispatched a paramedic crew and a critical care car to the scene, with Police also attending.
Medics spent around 45 minutes on scene before leaving on blue lights.
The casualty has been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
Jeals Lane was closed for a time but has now reopened.

Hope it wasnt caused by the same group (two girls a round 14 years old and a lad all in black hoodies) jumping out a long perone way at zebra crossing then just standing in the middle stopping cars pass..making rude signs. Hope it was pure accident..oh and if these are your kids maybe have a word..because someone will get hurt..
Chav’s dragged up by Chav’s….they won’t listen to your advice…..
No it was not caused by these kids jumping into the road
Hope the young lady is OK.
Worrying time for all her family and friends.
Thank goodness for our Emergency services.
Weather was pretty rubbish.
Hope she makes a speedy recovery.
hope shes ok.love to all concerned
Jeals Lane is a quiet side road off the busy and fast Perowne Way. If accidents are happening on side roads, God help us!
I hope this young lady is OK and makes a speedy recovery.
As for stupid kids jumping out in front of cars, well the youth of today think this is funny!!!!!
I hope they were not the cause of this accident. If they were, I hope with the public’s help they can give names to the Police. This must not be allowed to happen.
I blame the Audi driver
I hope the young lady is ok so many of these moped riders don’t have the proper outfit for riding bikes you see some with just a hoodie and thin leggings or shorts in the summer and not wearing gloves your hands are the first thing that’s in contact with the road
Hi David,
Yes the lady was wearing proper clothing and a helmet.
Hope she’s ok and makes a full recovery
