Disgraced police officer Tia Johnson-Warne has been sacked by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary after her drunken advances towards male colleagues on a boozy work night out.
The ‘sexually provocative’ female PC – who used to work for cross-Solent operator Red Funnel – made advances to 2 men whilst sitting in a booth at Wetherspoons in Ryde, at the same time her then-cop boyfriend was also in the pub, as previously reported by Island Echo.
In an ‘incredibly awkward’ move the officer – who is in her mid-20s – first grabbed one of the policemen, identified only as PC A, just above his knee before moving her hand up to his thigh. He stopped the encounter by excusing himself to go to the bathroom and then deliberately sat away from PC Johnson-Warne.
However, she began sending him explicit text messages asking him ‘don’t you want to f**k me?’ before sending him an intimate picture.
PC A, who cannot be named for legal reasons, tried to rebuff the advances by reminding her she was seeing another officer, PC Kane Brookes, who was also at the pub in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
Later on, she rubbed her hand over the crotch of another officer, PC B, for around 20 seconds, the misconduct hearing heard.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s PC Johnson-Warne was yesterday (Thursday) found guilty of gross misconduct for the ‘inappropriate touching’ of PC A and PC B and placed on the College of Policing’s Barred List. However, she was cleared of groping PC A in a car.
Tia Johnson-Warne didn’t turn up for the start of the hearing on Monday, instead being spotted shopping at The Range in Cowes.
Deputy Chief Constable Sam De Reya, of Hampshire Constabulary, has criticised her ‘unprofessional actions’ and ‘completely inappropriate behaviour’.
She’s said:
“I would like to thank the two officers for their resilience and professionalism and how they have handled this misconduct investigation.
“It is deeply troubling that an officer has acted in such a shameful manner, leaving these officers feeling awkward and uncomfortable.
“Nobody should be left to feel like these officers did because of a colleague’s degrading actions, regardless of whether you are on or off-duty.
“Her persistent unwanted advances irrevocably damaged their working relationship and caused unnecessary harm to the two individuals. The public expect better from police officers and our force.
“We are rightly held to a higher standard and whether we are on the beat or at a social event, the same standards apply and our actions are a reflection on policing as a whole.
“It is therefore right that PC Johnson-Warne is no longer a serving officer.
“Her unprofessionalism and completely inappropriate actions undermine the great work that our officers and staff do every day, serving our communities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.”
Imagine that you work for a supermarket and after you all finish work you go to a pub and get drunk.
Susan, an attractive 28 year old who usually stocks the bread aisle, casually puts her hand on your leg and then sends you a photo of herself holding some smooth baps. She then tries it on with another workmate.
Do you both report it to the boss and get her sacked for doing this outside of work?
Or do you just laugh it off as a typical drunken night out?
typical night off
Imagine if it was the other way round and
they showed her their truncheons,
where does it end!
At the end of the day Fair cop.
Absolutely.
You call it out, whether it’s male or female. If you work in a public-facing role where behaviour is held to a higher standard and people in the community know them, you report it to the boss. Why? Because there’s drunkenness, and there’s a loss of principles when drunk.
There was no other option, how could she stay in her
Position!
You’d have thought at least a charge of sexual assault would have been appropriate.
Could have been under abreast!
That happened to me in my younger years, I thought it was great fun and laughed it off.
I hope these 2 don’t come up against big hairy men.
they’re probably more guilty then they are being accounted for.
What are there no Barbers on the island, or are
there werewolfs on our streets roaming around.
At least they didn’t take her particulars down.
Don’t let’s kid ourselves i bet they all went home and had a good laugh on or off duty it doesn’t matter
An Happy Ending
How many male coppers are being sacked these days for doing the same thing and that’s on duty
