Southern Vectis has announced that from September fares on their Island-wide service are to increase.
In an announcement made yesterday (Tuesday), the travel provider confirmed that from 3rd September fare prices will change, but the £2 fare cap on single fares will remain until 31st October – as previously reported by Island Echo.
Come November, single adult fares will increase by 20p, whilst child singles and transfer singles will increase by 10p.
Nightrider fares will now be £7.00.
The new fares will be cheapest for those who use the Southern Vectis App, paper tickets will cost a small amount more.
It is the 3rd price increase in the past 18 months, with previous increases in both January and October 2022.
A Southern Vectis spokesperson has said:
“Like everywhere, our costs are continuing to rise and need to increase our fares in order to continue offering the comprehensive service we provide. These tickets still offer great value for money.”

Hang on thought they just got a big payout from the council? Bit cheeky putting the prices up I will get back in my car then
Don’t call them benefit scroungers, they are capitalists. We voted for this
they received 4.5 million
Price increases for the workers but how many dossers and laggers still get free bus transport? That’s where the money should be recouped.
I know right, all these old people filling our buses while making us pay via council tax!
I didn’t realise that old people didn’t pay council tax…
They don’t. Don’t believe everything you read on Facebook.
And they’ve taken away the key so you no longer are allowed to buy a buy pass without id or a recent smart phone
I know, this is disgusting. Have to have a smart phone.
Nobody likes price increases but southern Vectis do offer a reliable punctual service that can be relied on most of the time.Unfortunately what’s going on with Red funnel recently is a disgrace blaming staff shortages for cancelling boat after boat. The red jet services affected used to be kept to services that ran after the rush hour ,but they are now affecting people who have to travel to work connect with train , and air travel. They would be well advised to put their huge profits into recruiting more staff, and paying them properly so they don’t keep leaving.
Whats red funnel ,& red jet got to do with the buses ???
Someone obviously prefers red!
Cheaper and safer to travel by car.
Majority of Bus drivers on the Island are wreckless.
Hang on I thought bus fares were still capped until next year
