After more than 40-years, a family-run furniture shop in Shanklin is to close later this month.
High Street-based Brian Cooke Furnishers has been in the Cooke family since opening back in 1982.
Brian Cooke ran the store for years before passing over the running of the business to his children who have continued running the popular business on a day-to-day basis.
It is unclear what will replace the furniture shop in the prominent location when it officially closes later this month as the shop was rented.
Sad to see another island retail business close down – let’s hope Shanklin doesn’t start to draw the interest of County Hall ‘regeneration’ experts, because that will certainly finish it off
I thought this shop had closed down ages ago. Looked abandoned.
Likely be turned in a HMO, filled with the dregs of not only the UK but anything that drifts here, and town benches will resemble the mix of a modern ‘game show’ panel, only drunk, crude and never working, but kept by everyone else, yet still be abusive and vile.
Charity kept beings is the only growing business left now.
Terrible shame, great shop.
