Emergency services are rushing to reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles on the Middle Road this afternoon (Tuesday).
Several police units have been seen responding through Carisbrooke, with other services also responding to the incident which has occurred between the junction with Betty Haunt Lane and Rowridge Lane and is said to have involved 4 vehicles.
The road is blocked in both directions, with motorists needing to divert via Elm Lane or Betty Haunt Lane.
The crash is said to have occurred shortly before 16:45.
UPDATE @ 17:30 – Southern Vectis say their Routes 7 and 27 will divert away from the area by using Elm Lane, Forest Road and Gunville.
UPDATE @ 18:03 – Several vehicles have sustained damage during the collision, including a Renault Scenic which has heavy damage to its boot and a van which has visible damage to its front bumper.
It is not thought that any major injuries have been sustained in the incident, with paramedics now standing down from the scene.
UPDATE @ 19:00 – The road has now reopened following the incident, with traffic able to flow freely in both directions.

We all know van drivers are very aggressive, and drive up your back end most of the time…

Yes a considerably dangerous spot. Vehicles wanting to emerge from the junction with limited visibility with the undulating roads. Hope all are okay.
