Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision on Lushington Hill near Wootton this evening (Saturday).
2 fire appliances from Newport, Police and paramedics are currently on scene towards the bottom of the hill.
It is unknown at this time how many vehicles have been involved and whether anyone has been injured.
The road is reported to be open.
UPDATE – It was initially feared that the occupants of one of the vehicles involved in the 2-car collision were trapped.
However, upon arrival of firefighters it was established that no persons were trapped and therefore the fire service quickly stood down from the incident.
The scene has now been cleared.

This odd policy of doing away with the centre white line on country roads, YET placing two white lines on either edge of the roadway adds to accidents, as many drive too far over the centre line. Add concrete drainage kerbs, such as over Ashey down into Ryde before you get to Ashey Rd Garage, and the busy roads is more hazardous than it used to be.
