Police and paramedics are attending a road traffic collision on the main Newport to Sandown road near Arreton this evening (Thursday).
The incident, which is understood to involve 2 cars, has occurred close to the junction with Merstone Lane and East Lane.
2 ambulance crews are on scene alongside local Police.
Traffic is heavy in the area. Motorists should divert if possible.
UPDATE @ 18:55 – The collision has involved a blue Suzuki Wagon R , which has left the carriageway and come to a stop up a bank.
Traffic is being controlled in both directions whilst recovery is arranged.
UPDATE @ 19:45 – 1 person has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital this evening.
What bad luck, crashing into a bank, thought most were closed now.
