An eco refill scheme has launched at West Wight Sports and Community Centre in Freshwater, giving local people a practical way to reduce plastic waste and make sustainable choices.
The West Wight Eco Refill Scheme is now running every Tuesday from 10:00-12:00 in the Centre’s café area. It offers a range of eco-friendly, vegan household products including cleaning liquids, shampoos and soaps.
All products are made in the UK with ethically sourced ingredients and are sold in refillable quantities, allowing customers to bring their own containers and cut down on single-use plastics.
All profits from the scheme are reinvested into West Wight Sports and Community Centre to help support the long-term sustainability of the charity.
Clare Griffin, Manager of West Wight Sports and Community Centre, has said:
“We’re delighted to carry on the legacy of the Eco Refill Scheme. It’s a simple, practical way for people to make a positive environmental impact – and now, it’s also a way to support the Centre directly.”
Gina Maliphant, who coordinates the scheme, has added:
“I’m really pleased that the Eco Refill Scheme is now up and running at the Centre. It offers people a chance to choose products that are kinder to the planet, without the waste, without the excess.
“It’s a small but powerful step we can all take at home. We’re also very happy to be able to begin running our sessions here and to support the sustainability of this fantastic local charity.”
The Centre, based in Moa Place, Freshwater, acts as a hub for the local community by promoting health, wellbeing and connection through a range of activities and services. The new Eco Refill Scheme strengthens the Centre’s commitment to supporting both people and the planet.
