VIDEO: The bitterly cold conditions didn’t deter over 450 runners from successfully completing Ryde’s 10 mile road race on Sunday.
The annual event, which is organised by Ryde Harriers, saw 500 runners from across the country set off from Ryde Esplanade at 11:00. The route took in Appley, Nettlestone, St Helens, The Duver, Seaview and Puckpool.
Local man Daniel Eckersley of Isle of Wight A.C took his first road race victory in 54:42. Joe Croft crossed the line in second (55:15) and Stuart Holloway in third (57:13). The first female home was Steph McCall in 1:00:27.
This year the start was moved around 100m further on to just outside ‘The Duck’.
The organisers have thanked all the marshals, drinks station staff and finish staff who stood out in the cold.
