The Isle of Wight’s mental health wellbeing organisation, Isorropia Foundation, is now open to self-referrals.
People struggling with their mental health and wellbeing can now directly access help from Newport-based Isorropia Foundation without needing to be referred by a professional.
The organisation, which works closely with Isle of Wight mental health teams, GP practices and community organisations, has recently been awarded a contract from local health commissioners to continue to deliver their services to Island residents for a further 3 years.
Members who graduated the Isorropia Foundation programme in 2021 reported significant improvements in all areas of their wellbeing, particularly in how they managed their anxiety and low mood, their understanding of their mental health, and improved confidence and hope for the future.
Dr Dan O’Neill, GP and Island clinical lead for Mental Health, has said:
“We know that, for many people struggling with their mental health, the idea of reaching out for help can feel frightening and overwhelming. That is why it is so important to give people options – we sincerely hope that making it easy to contact the team at Isorropia directly, without having to go through anyone else, might make all the difference for anyone who might otherwise hold back from getting the help they really need.
“In taking those initial difficult steps we hope they will start to be empowered to take control of their own mental wellbeing whilst receiving the support that helps on that journey.”
Isorropia Foundation is based in the centre of Newport – opposite County Hall – and offers face-to-face or online appointments.
Induction sessions, workshops and groups are available in Newport and in locations around the Island, to make it as easy as possible to join the sessions and to develop support networks in the local communities.
To access Isorropia’s services, simply call 01983 217791, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00, to have a confidential discussion with a trained Wellbeing Coach. To find out more visit the Isorropia Foundation website at www.isorropia.uk.
Funny that. Still waiting to hear back from them 3 months after a referral FROM a medical professional….
Mental Health help on the Isle of Wight is deplorable from what I’ve witnessed with friends.
I was made to feel as if I was being a nuisance. I needed to talk to someone and they cut me off sharply.
I’m so sorry this happened & you felt this way after the call
Please try reaching out & calling again.
It shouldn’t take to long to ask for an assessment & there you can explain more about what you’re feeling
Good luck & I hope to see you on the other side x
Sorry to hear this. We would like to resolve this immediately. Please contact us directly on 01983 217791. Thank you for your feedback.
As with all aspects of medical help & needs, there is a protocol of due diligence & a waitlist.
Once you have begun the workshops & enter the Graduates Community, it will be time to put all the tools you have learned to their full use, Isorropia is not the solution, they are the bridge to you maintaining your MH & connecting with others in the same situations, thus building friendships & support circles so you can begin to enjoy life again & find your Ikigai!
I believe in Isorropia, just enter it with an open mind & ready to take ownership of your life again!
