A power cut has hit over 85 postcode areas in rural parts of the West Wight this morning (Tuesday).
Hundreds of properties in villages such as Newbridge, Wellow, Shalcombe and Brook have lost electricity supply, with the outage also affecting those further afield in places like Atherfield and Military Road.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks engineers are aware of the fault, which hit at around 06:30.
Power is expected to be restored to customers in the PO30 4, PO38 2 and PO41 0 areas by 09:00.
UPDATE @ 08:00 – Engineers are working to re-route supplies and, as a result, power is starting to be restored to homes and businesses alreasy.
The number of postcodes affected was initially 85, but that dropped to 48 and has now dropped to 22.
UPDATE @ 09:42 – Power is still off for dozens of properties. The new estimated time of repair is 12 midday.
