Road improvement works in Wroxall are due to be completed today (Monday), with the disruptive closure set to be removed by this evening.
Island Roads has announced that its programme of carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing in the area is reaching completion, allowing the road to return to normal use later today.
The works began in November 2025 and formed part of a major 12-week scheme to upgrade the route through Wroxall.
Although the road itself will be reopened, some road lining works remain outstanding. These are weather-dependent and will be carried out once conditions are suitable.
In a message to residents and stakeholders, Island Roads has expressed gratitude for the patience and cooperation of the Wroxall community throughout the months-long project. The team shared appreciation for the many gestures of kindness received during the works, including warm conversations and refreshments offered to workers, even during adverse weather.
Once the road fully reopens, the temporary relaxation of parking restrictions in Wroxall will come to an end. Island Roads is reminding residents to adhere to all parking regulations to maintain road safety for all users.
Looking ahead, embankment stabilisation works are scheduled to begin on St John’s Road from 2nd March.

Perhaps now Southern Vectis can now use the Shuttle bus from these works to service Brading Town. SV said they had no spare buses or drivers, so surely, they now have??
Brading has many residents who need a service into the town, not to the outskirts of Brading. If you have purchased a ticket to Brading, SV should deliver such. Where is the safe guarding, duty of care or risk assessments in expecting folks to walk from Rowborough Corner back along a route with no footpaths, no street lighting and when bad flooding on both sides of the road when, in the dip by the cricket club. Also with Morton being closed because of flooding, passengers have had to leave the bus at Yaverland to walk down Marshcombe Shute, how dangerous!! You couldn’t make this stuff up!!…This isn’t the first time this has happened to Brading.
About time.
Great News, as from the 11th February – Brading will now have a shuttle bus from Tesco’s to Brading Bull Ring. From Tesco’s other connections can be caught. Timetable now available. See SV website
