“These are not toys… they’re not to be used in the sea untethered” – that’s the message from Ryde Inshore Rescue tonight (Monday) following yet another shout for an inflatable seen drifting out to sea.

Ryde Rescue 2 lifeboat was tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard at 18:49 to reports of an inflatable drifting past Ryde Sands Post.

Volunteer lifeboat crew members were quickly on scene and recovered the small dinghy having ascertained no persons were in danger.

It was only yesterday that Ryde Rescue were called out to recover an inflatable swan that was found a mile out to sea.

A spokesperson for the independent life-saving charity has taken to Twitter to say:

“Again no one on board but more resources and time wasted. These are toys… not to be used in the sea untethered”.
