Ryde Rescue’s lending hand at this year’s Ryde Slide event was brought to be abrupt halt earlier this evening (Sunday) when the independent lifeboat was tasked to launch.
Solent Coastguard requested the assistance of Ryde Rescue 1 shortly before 17:50 following reports of an inflatable drifting out to sea.
By the time the lifeboat had located the object – a swan – it has drifted a mile out to sea. Thankfully, no persons were involved on this occasion.
The inflatable was hauled aboard Ryde Rescue 1 and taken back to the lifeboat station at Appley.
Today’s shout mirrors one carried out by RNLI colleagues at Bembridge last year, as previously reported by Island Echo.
