A Niton woman accused of causing the death of motorcyclist Gordon Endler will now appear before the Crown Court in June as the matter has been deemed too serious to be dealt with by Magistrates.
Further details of the fatal collision on 1st July 2020 have been revealed following today’s first hearing at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court in which Daisy Parsons, 42, of Chatfield Road in Niton, stood in the dock.
Parsons is accused of causing death by careless driving in relation to the death of 62-year-old Gordon Endler.
Ann Smout, prosecuting, detailed that Mr Endler was travelling along Newport Road on the outskirts of Whitwell when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a VW Transporter, driven by Parsons. The driver’s 11-year-old daughter was in the passenger seat at the time of the collision.
The court heard that Mr Endler died from chest injuries and his pillion passenger, Jacqueline Stewart, went into cardiac arrest at the scene. She was later placed into a coma but has suffered a brain injury.
No plea was entered at today’s hearing and the case has been sent for trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 6th June.
