The Isle of Wight Literary Festival is set to serve up a feast of culinary inspiration next month, with Dame Prue Leith headlining the ever-popular LitFeast programme at Cowes.
LitFeast takes place on Saturday (11th October) as part of the wider Isle of Wight Literary Festival, which runs from 9th-12th October at Northwood House.
The special strand has become a firm favourite with festival-goers, offering live demonstrations and talks from some of the biggest names in food and drink.
The highlight of the day will be Dame Prue Leith’s Seabourn-sponsored talk at noon at Cowes Enterprise College. The Great British Bake Off judge will be discussing her bestseller Life’s Too Short to Stuff a Mushroom: Really Good Food Without Fuss – Foolproof Recipes, Shortcuts and Hacks. Dame Prue, who succeeded Mary Berry on Bake Off in 2017, is also well-known for her appearances on Great British Menu and Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen.
Other guests include 2016 Bake Off winner Candice Brown, soup specialist Charlotte Pike and author Laura May, also known as the Kitchen Witch, who will all be giving demonstrations in the LitFeast marquee. Local flavour will be added by Natasha Edwards of the Garlic Farm, who will be showcasing recipes from her new book The Goodness of Garlic – 40 Amazing Immune-Boosting Recipes alongside her sister Josephine at 13:30.
Wine lovers will be pleased to see the return of festival favourite Helen McGinn. She will host a wine tasting event on Thursday (9th October) at 18:00, guiding audiences through a selection of her chosen bottles.
HTP Apprenticeship College is sponsoring LitFeast this year, supporting the cost of the professional kitchen and providing students to help deliver the event.
Rachael Randall, managing director of HTP, has said:
“The hospitality and catering sectors are an important part of our offer at Riverbank and for our apprentices at HTP. We are delighted to sponsor the kitchen at LitFeast and provide some people power in the form of our students, to make the whole weekend go smoothly.”
Charlotte Pike, the author of 6 cookery books, will be in the LitFeast marquee at 15:00 with recipes from her book The Soup Solution, while Laura May will demonstrate dishes from her new release Kitchen Magic – Over 65 Enchanting Recipes and Rituals for a Cozy, Witchy Kitchen.
