A creative writing workshop exploring lost histories and identity along the south coast of the Isle of Wight is set to take place in Sandown later this month.
The event, titled A Virtual Walk Through History: Writing Creatively About the Past, will be held at Boojum & Snark on Sandown High Street on Monday 22nd January from 17:30 to 19:30.
Led by Open University lecturers and fiction writers Emily Bullock and Samuel Sargeant, the session invites attendees to take part in a ‘virtual walk’ through time, without leaving the warmth of the room.
The workshop uses historical materials and creative prompts inspired by coastal walks to encourage reflection on life on the Isle of Wight – past and present.
Organisers say no previous writing experience is needed. Participants only need to bring a notebook, curiosity, and a willingness to explore.
Emily Bullock is an award-winning author originally from the Isle of Wight, while Samuel Sargeant writes historical fiction based on Norse mythology.

Sounds great
Is this free? Is there some competitive element to the event or is it just a talk by the authors?
