A few years back the IOW council allegedly made improvements at this junction, but so many more accidents since !. Hope no one seriously hurt
Road safety on the Island is Zilch.
Drive past McDonalds in Ryde or down Great Preston Road and you will see
ROAD SAFEY ON THE ISLAND IS NON EXISTENT
“Drive past McDonalds in Ryde “
Yes I agree William. Massive sign on exit saying no right turn yet most do a turn right.
Yes, they cut down a beautiful mature oak tree to supposedly improve vision coming out of the junction. Doesn’t seem to have worked though, isn’t this the second accident there in the past month?
I wonder what excuses will show up this time….
the only reason on this is .. driving with undue care & attention .see the drivers stood there looking on !
If they’d been driving with undue care it probably wouldn’t have happened!
How do you know that they aren’t other drivers who were stuck in the traffic jam? If any of the drivers suffered life changing injuries, as reported by the police (eventually), they would hardly be stood in the road looking at their cars would they. Don’t make stupid assumptions. Hopefully the professionals will establish the cause of the crash, if not they can always consult the usual armchair professionals on here who will obviously know the cause. Hope the casualties all recover in due course.
Or. As it says in the report, a medical episode. Hopefully all involved will be OK.
Strange that it should be at that junction again
Driving WITHOUT DUE CARE AND ATTENTION otherwise it would not have happened.
There was a bend in the road just before they crashed, and the sun was out and there is trees on the side of the road Nr the bend. and plus, there island drivers
It was a medical episode.
Bet you feel a bit of a tit now.
Too much pot I say
Oh dear, a medical incident at the wheel. That’s p#ssed all over your bonfire, hasn;t it.
had no idea 99% of crashes on the island was due to medical reasons….I do apologise to you all…
Maybe you shouldn’t post your asinine comments until you know more about the incident, eh?
Your usual comment regarding ” idiots ” without any conformation of circumstances and your reference today of ” excuses ” is very sad. It has been reported since your comment that a driver is seriously ill, with reference to a medical episode at the wheel.
That is why I and others for one reason object to your usual comments to “idiots”. Feel proud, do you? I am sure the family will get great comfort from your comment stating ” I wonder what excuses will show up this time….”
I ask again do you feel proud?
You’ll be waiting until the 12th of Never for a reply mate. He doesn’t do humble pie.
I had no idea 99% of crashes on the island was due to medical reasons….I do apologise to you all…
When one is due to a medical issue, you can’t wait to give your standard reply, BEFORE any facts are known, you assume as usual, grow a pair, man up admit you don’t know anything, you assume everything whilst knowing nothing.
There are some idiots on the road, just like the rest of us you know nothing, but assume you know everything.
I am afraid you are a good example of a know all who actually knows nothing.
i think it’s time ALL island drivers had a retest you lot over there can’t drive. every day there’s a crash may be 1 car may be 2 or more cars
That is a national speed limit road, yet people pull out as though oncoming traffic is doing only 30… Stupid drivers always in a hurry to pull out, without any thought of the oncoming speed… ha ha ha to the one that pulled out… sad for the one that got hit..
Sorry I didn’t see you .due care and attention comes to mind
I blame the Audi driver
Is that a Fiesta ST 3 door ? Can’t quite tell from the pic…
Seriously, can no one on the Isle of Wight actually drive? Perhaps there should be a mandatory theory exam every 10 years
Blimey, I thought it was rush hour around 3.30. Every road and lane is nose to tail. Sandown was gridlocked. Country roads pandemonium with junctions every man for herself. We on the Island must have generated enough CO2 in traffic jams today, to fuel climate change into the next century.
That looks like the jimmy was turning right and didn’t see the fiesta looking at the way the cars are facing ??
Well it’s not looking good!…..this one is turning out to be serious….hopefully a full recovery for the injured individual…
Goodness knows why there is so many accidents.
I wonder how the dickens this one happened.
This is now being treated as life threatening/life changing so please respect the people involved unless you know different.
There’s never any follow-up to these crashes; what happened, why it happened, who’s to blame, etc. The reader learns nothing.
Nothing wrong with the visibility at that junction, but unfortunate place to have a medical incident.
Where is the life changing then..??? oh there is’nt…fantastic great reporting..well done island echo
Why do so many people have so many negative comments about accidents..it can happen to any of us out the blue. Not because they were speeding ,but for many reasons so maybe these people with negative thought s should keep them to them selves instead of upsetting people
injured, not injured, injured, not injured make you’re minds up
