UPDATED: A road traffic collision involving at least 2 vehicles has resulted in the closure of Morton Road, Brading – the main road connecting Ryde and Sandown.
Police, paramedic and fire crews are all on scene near Yarbridge having been alerted to the crash at around 12:50.
It is understood 2 vehicles have been involved in the incident – a Dacia taxi and a Ford Focus.
2 fire appliances from Ryde are in attendance but no persons are thought to be trapped. Firefighters are assisting with scene safety.
Motorists are being diverted via Yaverland (southbound) and Morton Old Road (northbound) whilst emergency crews attend to the injured.
Southern Vectis say services are currently unable to serve Avenue Road and Morton Common.
UPDATE @ 14:14 – 1 casualty has been assessed by paramedics. They are not thought to have sustained any serious injuries.
Morton Common has now re-opened in both directions.
