Concerns for the welfare and safety of a man in Ryde prompted an emergency response to the town’s pier late last night (Sunday).
Police, Coastguards from Bembridge and Ventnor, and paramedics on behalf of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were mobilised to Ryde Pier shortly before 23:30.
A brief search of the pier was carried out by Police, from the bottom to the top, but nothing untoward could be found.
The individual was soon located on dry land near to Ryde Bus Station – ahead of the arrival of Coastguard Rescue Vehicles.
The man was tended to by paramedics and Police.
