HM Coastguard has been called to Brook this morning (Wednesday) following reports of a dog going over the cliff.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team & Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were both called to Chilton Chine off of Military Road near to the Isle of Wight Pearl after receiving a 999 at around 09:30.
Yarmouth lifeboat launched at 10:18 and also proceeded to the area but has since been stood down and are now returning to their home station.
UPDATE @ 11:45 – A member of the public is appealing for any sightings of a Staffy Pup which is currently still missing.
The owner was also reported missing but has thankfully been located by the Coastguard.
Anyone who sees a dog in the West Wight area is advised to call 999 and ask for coastguard with a matter of urgency.
UPDATE @ 13:30 – Crews have now been stood down – although the dog is still missing.
UPDATE – The dog has now been found safe and well on the beach.

Irresponsible owner. Hope the dog is found safe and well.
Sorry really sorry for the dog but what moron would let a dog run loose along the cliff edge
Why have they stood down if the dog is still missing? 🙁 poor pup hope found and safe!
Why send a lifeboat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why send a life boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because they couldn’t get the lifeboat near to the beach and the conditions were too severe.
Dgo they have been stood down probably because it’s a dog very sad about dog hope owner is going to get charged for all the time brave lifeboat risk there lives and the owner can’t even keep a young pup on lead by cliff edge shocking don’t deserve to have dog
