Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spent almost 2 hours on scene at a property on the Camp Hill estate in Newport last night (Wednesday).
1 appliance was mobilised to an address on Standen Avenue at around 20:15, where it was discovered that a chimney was well alight.
Thankfully, the fire was contained to the chimney breast.
Using a variety of methods, firefighters extinguished the fire before checking the property using a thermal imaging camera for any signs of spread.
The fire service stood down from the incident at just gone 22:00.
Last might’s Incident is thought the be the second this week. Earlier in the month 2 chimney fires in Ningwood and Ventnor led to much more significant incidents.
