Pupils from the Broadlea Primary School Council met with Lake Parish Councillor Paul Brading recently, to discuss options for the proposed Manor Road playground project, and overwhelmingly chose their preferred design.
Lake Parish Council have secured funding for the project in 2026, with other improvements alongside the centrepiece of the project, as part of the Bay Place Plan initiative.

Comments from the pupils included:
“The play equipment looks more interesting and means more children will want to use it.”
Another pupil said:
This option is best because it has more features, it’s bigger and more children can use it at the same time.”
Councillor Brading said:
“Lake Parish Council really value the feedback from Children at the School, as well as local football club, and the wider community – we are working with the Local Authority to take this forward as soon as possible.
“As some-one who attended this school over 50 years ago, I know how important it is to provide these type of amenities and how vital it is to ensure young people can help inform what needs to be included for maximum benefit.”
Broadlea Primary School Teacher, Samantha Stevens added:
“The school council really appreciated their voices being heard and look forward to enjoying the new facilities when they are in place.”
